DESIGN STATEMENT
A material-led design practice
Guseli Design is a small-batch object practice exploring form, weight, and mineral movement through a cast mineral composite.
Each piece begins as a study in balance. Proportion, surface, and weight are resolved slowly through casting, sanding, and refinement through successive hand-cast iterations.
Pigment is introduced sparingly, allowing subtle veining to move through the material. No two pieces settle the same way.
The result is a collection of objects that feel grounded, tactile, and distinctly resolved. Not decorative, but lived with.

MATERIAL & PROCESS
Material and Process
Each object is individually hand-cast using a mineral composite selected for its ability to hold both structure and variation.
Small shifts in mix, pour, and movement create natural differences in surface and tone. Some pieces are further refined through sanding, while others are lightly etched to reveal the mineral structure within.
This process ensures every object carries its own character, while remaining part of a considered whole.
Surface is not applied. It is revealed.
Each piece carries the record of its making.
FOR HOMES AND COLLECTORS
These are objects chosen slowly.
Placed deliberately.
Lived with over time.
Each piece carries variation, weight, and presence, becoming part of the space it occupies.
Subtle shifts in surface and tone ensure no two are identical, while the form remains recognisable across the collection.
Over time, pieces can be added, layered, and lived alongside one another.

THE ARTIST
Individually hand-cast. Every time.
Hi. I'm Kim Guseli. I've been making things with my hands my whole life. Not because I had to, but because I can't imagine doing anything else.
When I cast each piece, I get to watch the colours dance together in ways I never quite predict. That moment. Seeing a new piece come to life for the first time never gets old.
I want people to look at these pieces and get a few minutes of escape. Just to hold something beautiful. Something that took time and care to make. Something nobody else has quite like theirs.
No factory could make what I make. That's the whole idea.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
Objects that hold their place over time.
01
No two pieces resolve the same. Variation is inherent to the process.
02
Individually formed sculptural pieces.
03
Made from a natural mineral composite. No toxic fumes, no environmental nasties. Cool and luxe to touch, with the satisfying weight of something that was made to last.
